In early 2024, the County of Wellington’s Social Services Department hosted two Health and Housing Symposiums to hear directly from people with lived experience, Indigenous community members, service providers, and local leaders about the urgent challenges in our community. These included limited access to basic needs, affordable and supportive housing, mental health and addiction services, and Indigenous-led supports. In response to a clear call to action, the Wellington-Guelph Health and Housing Community Planning Table was formed.
We’re co-chaired by leaders from the County of Wellington’s Social Services Department and the Guelph Wellington Ontario Health Team, and we include members who provide health and housing services in the region. Together, we’re working to break down silos, improve coordination, and create a community plan grounded in lived experience.
